Definition of reingratiate in US English:

reingratiate

verb

  • with object (Chiefly refl.) To ingratiate again.

Origin

Mid 17th century; earliest use found in Thomas Herbert. From re- + ingratiate. Perhaps compare Italian ringraziare, † ringratiare to thank (a person), to give thanks to (a person); however, neither the sense of the English verb nor the reflexive use appear to be paralleled in Italian.
