MedicineAttributive and in the genitive, especially in "Osgood-Schlatter disease". Osteochondritis of the tibial tuberosity (apophysis), seen most commonly in early adolescence and usually associated with chronic minor stress to the knee occurring during certain types of sporting activity.
Origin
Early 20th century; earliest use found in American Journal Orthopedic Surgery. From the names of Robert Bayley Osgood, U.S. surgeon, and Karl Schlatter, Swiss surgeon, who independently described the condition in 1903.
