Baron (1897–1974), English physicist; full name Patrick Maynard Stuart Blackett. He was a member of the Maud Committee, which dealt with the development of the atom bomb. He also modified the cloud chamber for the study of cosmic rays. Nobel Prize for Physics (1948).
