  • (died 1014), king of Denmark c.985–1014; known as Sweyn Forkbeard. From 1003, he launched a series of attacks on England, finally causing Ethelred the Unready to flee to Normandy at the end of 1013. Sweyn then became king of England but died five weeks later.
